What will we be doing?

Each trip is unique, so during each trip, you will have an opportunity to use the unique gifts that God has given you to further His Kingdom. We will be volunteering with street children of Jinja, and the children at Beauty for Ashes Nursery School. We’ll be participating in at least one (up to 6, depending on the length of your trip.) worship nights in villages throughout Uganda. We will take part in worship experiences and ministry opportunities at our local church partners and ministries in Jinja, Kampala, and Mbale, Uganda. We’ll spend time doing ministry in the village of Soweto, including; building projects, street and door to door ministry, and discipleship. And most participants (depending on t.he length of your trip, and the timing in relation to the full length participants.) will also get to spend 3 days with Bujagali Safaris; which includes wildlife and game viewing at Murchison Falls, a ride in a hot air balloon, and a drive to see the rhinos! How will I raise the money?

~You will be provided with several fundraising tools, once you have completed your application, and been approved to be a part of a team. You are required to raise the funds for your trip, yourself. We will not be having a scheduled group fundraiser.

~Check and money order donations can be sent to Laura Lytle P.O. Box 9791 Canton, OH 44711. Make sure that you instruct the donor to send their donation WITH the return portion of your letter, so that the funds will be credited to your trip, specifically...or make certain that your name is in the memo line of the checks.

~ If you need additional help with fundraising ideas, etc...feel free to contact the team leader Laura (Elle) Lytle.

Where will we stay?

The majority of our trip, we will stay at Busoga Trust Guest House, in Jinja. The Guest House has hot showers, filtered drinking water, complete laundry service, and 24 hour security. It’s also a beautiful place to come back and relax, after being in the slums all day. You can see more photos of the Guest House here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g480250-d2263186-Reviews-Busoga_Trust_Guest_House-Jinja_Eastern_Region.html

~We will spend a few nights at an AirBnB operated and owned by Arukah House, while we are in Kampala.

~While we are in Mbale, we will be staying with the Odongo family. (Joseph Odongo is the pastor of All Christians Fellowship Mission, and also a professor at Uganda Christian University. ) He, his wife Bernadette (She prefers to be called Bena), and their 4 children; live in a village outside of Mbale, Uganda. Their home is very safe, but we may not have access to electricity or running water during our time there. Rest assured that bottled water is available for purchase. (You will receive more detailed information on how to accommodate this, and other needs during this time, when you receive your What to Bring forms.)

What will we eat?

We will be grocery shopping and cooking at the guest house as a team, eating at some safe local restaurants, and at times eating local cuisine. Closer to trip time, you will get a thorough explanation of what is safe to eat, and what is not.

What kind of training will I receive?

Before each trip, we will have several team meetings to prepare for the trip. Attendance at these team meetings is required for those going on a trip. These meetings will prepare the team spiritually, and practically for the upcoming trip. Some of these meetings will be via video-chat, to better accommodate busy schedules, and/or team members who don’t live in close proximity to the rest of the team. But team members must make these meetings a priority if they plan to remain on the team.

What benefits result from going on a trip?

~You will build lasting relationships with team members, including our Ugandan partners.

~You will definitely grow in your intimacy with God, and experience Him in new and exciting ways!

~This trip has the potential to change your perspective on a lot of things, including the many blessings that we take for granted here in the U.S.

Some things are available for purchase in Uganda, but some are not available at all. Spending money is suggested, but not required. It is likely that you will want to bring back a few small gifts for family or friends. These items are at your own expense as well.
